This is my favorite time of the year to decorate the classroom. We have so many colorful projects that go along with our Social Studies unit to learn about holidays around the world. Hope you like our decorations!

During the month of November, we learn all about the very first Thanksgiving. We learn about Pilgrims and Native Americans, turkeys, and we share about everything that we are thankful for. This month's classroom decoration shows some of our November projects! Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite times of the year because of all the festive holidays coming up! We have Halloween, and then Thanksgiving, and after that we have Christmas and all the other Winter holidays! I had a lot of fun decorating the class with student artwork and fake spiderwebs =) Also in this slideshow are pictures of the students during literacy centers on Wednesdays. Enjoy!

For those of you that don't know, in my spare time, I am actively involved with a hip hop dance ministry called Eight Count (www.eightcount.com). We do several performances a year and we've even performed at Eaton before! This past summer, I decided to go on my very first missions trip to Kenya with some dancers from Eight Count and some other members from my church, Great Exchange Covenant Church (www.grx.org). We were there for 2 weeks, and everyday, we worked with children from public schools, private schools, and orphanages. We brought crafts, games, stories, and dance to the kids there, and we also trained the teachers how to lead different types of lessons with the kids. If you want a detailed account of our entire adventure to Kenya, please visit my Kenya blog at: gracetokenya.blogspot.com
Here is my dance group, Eight Count's, performance for Easter 2010. We used the song, Blessed Be Your Name, by Tree 63, to tell a story about a soldier and his wife. The lyrics of this song are really powerful, "You give and take away," showing us that in every moment, we have so much to be thankful for because it might not last. Just like one day it's sunny, and the next day it rains, our lives change that quickly too. All we can do is appreciate all the blessings we do have at any given moment, and just smile.
